1. Now that mandated tax cuts have reduced local government revenues and proposals on the November ballot might reduce them further, what are your priorities for cuts to balance the county budget? Please be specific.

2. Are you willing to raise taxes to save some services that will have to be cut?

3. Do you think Polk County is on the right track in dealing with the water supply restrictions? Why or why not?

4. In 2010, there are plans for a referendum asking voters to extend the taxing authority that allows the purchase of environmental lands. Please explain your position on extending such a taxing authority.

5. Do you believe that Polk County is doing a good job keeping up with the growth? Why or why not? If you disagree what specific changes would you suggest?

6. If elected, what will be your single most important priority and how will you accomplish it?
I would like to see a review of all County Departments and any Department that has fat to be trimmed, should be trimmed. There is a considerable amount of waste in many departments, i.e. permitting and the building department. The red tape that restrains the general public should be removed, therefore eliminating jobs that do not serve the public's best interest.
I am not willing to raise taxes to save services that absolutely need to be cut. The priorities should be based on citizens concerns, not special interests of any County Commissioner. Someone has to step up to the plate for the voters of Polk County.
I think there is much that can be done in the County to deal with our water issues. It is imperative that we make preserving the Green Swamp our main priority.
Yes. As the County grows and we receive more tax money, we will be in the position to extend the taxing authority. However, we should look at working with the State and the Florida Forever program to help acquire Environmental lands.
No. I believe that you need a higher occupancy rate on already developed areas before you can continue to develop. Simple supply and demand. If you have an over abundance of properties then the market becomes soft and nothing moves.
When I am elected, I will listen to what the voters want. There are so many issues to be dealt with that I would say the most important priority as I see it now would be working toward property tax relief.

Top Issue:
My top issue is the tax increases we have suffered in this County. I look to decrease the property tax or at least have no further increases as the incumbents have proposed. The tax payers can not take any further increases. People are in survival mode at this point with the prices of Gas, Milk, and the basics.
Thoughts on my opponent:
My opponents seem nice enough but they don't live in the same reality I live in. The Incumbent talks about raising the millage rate at debates. I personally can't stomach any more tax increases. Amendment one made them trim the fat, so that proves my point that there is fat to trim. Tax payers can't take another 4 years of on the job training.
